Diversity Curriculum

By partnering with educators, we tailor curricula to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures and identities within and beyond classroom walls. We aim to empower students with a deeper understanding and awareness of the people around them, fostering empathy, critical thinking, and global citizenship.

Diversity Curriculum: Welcome

About the Program

Making Change Possible

At The New Page Project, we are committed to making a difference through our dedication to equal-access education. By focusing on promoting literacy skills and aligning with the UN's SDG 4, we've developed a dynamic diversity curriculum that combats these pressing challenges.
Through close collaboration with educators, we engage with various schools to have interactive read-aloud sessions for children. What sets us apart is our deliberate selection of books featuring diverse characters spanning race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic backgrounds. By exposing students to this rich tapestry of characters, we aim to broaden their perspectives from an early age, nurturing a more inclusive worldview. To enhance the read-aloud sessions, we supplement them with engaging presentations and exciting activities tailored to each day's theme. This comprehensive approach not only captivates the students' attention but also educates them about diverse topics, making learning both enjoyable and enlightening.

Pilot: Wattles Elementary School

November 22, 2023

The New Page Project tried its diversity curriculum for the first time at Wattles Elementary School. We did a read-aloud with Joanna Ho's book "Eyes That Kiss in the Corners," and the second graders all about Chinese culture! The book follows a young Asian girl who finds beauty in her unique features, cherishing her eyes that reflect her heritage. Through the empowering embrace of her identity, she discovers strength and pride in her cultural roots. The kids loved it, and they all learned a lot about different cultures and embracing those differences.

Schroeder Elementary School

January 25, 2024

The New Page Project went to Schroeder Elementary School to do a read-aloud with three second-grade classes using the book "Eyes That Kiss in the Corners" by Joanna Ho. Afterward, we taught students about Chinese culture and made a paper dog craft! The collaboration, knowledge, and even empathy being gained were immeasurable. A special thank you to the teachers and staff who made this possible.
